WELCOME TO

THE CONGOLESE COMMUNITY
OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
A nonprofit organization that unites Congolese of all strains regardless of tribe, social status or religion.

ABOUT US

The Congolese Community of Southern California (CCSC) is a dynamic, non-political, and non-religious nonprofit organization that supports and promotes the welfare, personal development, economic growth and integration of Congolese immigrants living in Southern California and friends of Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Our mission, duty, and purpose is to serve as a vehicle for leveraging the efforts of Congolese residing in Southern California towards the improvement of their general welfare and economic empowerment.

INITIATIVES

SOLIDARITY
One of our mission is to promote mutual assistance among its members and facilitate agreement, collaboration, cohesion among its members, through the organization and participation in social and cultural activities. To accomplish this goal, the corporation plans to organize social events that will increase awareness of the Congolese people, its culture, traditions and values.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Due to the language barriers and limited English proficiency, many Congolese do not have access to resources available to them. CCSC will establish a network of members who can assist with interpretation and translation services for free to help immigrants access medical, educational and social services in their own language.
Financial Literacy
We offer workshops and training to improve the financial well-being of our members. We coach our members to help them improve the financial capacity of their families, including, but not limited to understanding the banking system, budgeting, building credit and countering predatory lending practices, income taxes, asset building, life insurance and retirement planning.
WELFARE
We promote various social efforts to improve the basic physical and material well-being of people in need. We provide on-going case management services to our members in the areas including, but not limited to: food stamp applications, cash aid, Medicaid/ Medicare application, coordination services to resolve legal issues, interpretation, and immigration and citizenship.
HIGHER EDUCATION
We want to create a network of Congolese individuals who will mentor the youth and adults wishing to further their education in the US and provide resources to that subpopulation. We will also facilitate education workshops providing information on i) funding education; ii) qualifying for student aid; iii) selecting a college or institution for upper education.
ENCOURAGE EMPLOYMENT AND BUSINESS OWNERSHIP
We aim to create a network of professional volunteers who will conduct workshops on resume writing, job search, interview skills, etc. CCSC is also to partner with organizations that encourage business ownership, and will mentor educational workshops on business creation, accounting, marketing and growth.
